Born June 28th 1981 in the Castro area of San Francisco. Master Dan has been training martial arts all his life. After a year of self-discovery, at 21, Dan found himself living on the beaches of Rio. No passport, no money and alienated from friends and family, Dan turned to a life of selling anything he could on the streets to survive. His life was falling apart. However, one day, walking through the streets of Rio, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Carnival, he was set upon by a group of men in colorful, skimpy, sequined costumes. As they beat on him mercilessly, a man wearing nothing but a thong and a tiara emerged from the darkness. In an instant, the man moved his hands so fast that they seemed to blur and he beat off the attackers, saving Dan from life altering damage. That man was Master Luiz Nancie, the granddaddy of BBBJJ.Dan was grateful and submitted himself to Master Nancie’s teachings. Learning everything there was to know about this mysterious martial art. Upon the death of Master Nancie from an autoimmune condition, Dan vowed to carry on his legacy and found Bath House BBBJJ. Also, when Dan isn’t training hard, he enjoys leatherworking, softball, musicals and playing with his cat.
